The Sky

My children know it.

One of the things I want them to remember about me is that I loved the sky. I've told them since they were little beings, "Look up at the sky".   Many times during one of our walks to the lake, we'd pretend to take a photo.  If it happened that I didn't have the camera with us that day, we'd save the beauty of the view in our minds.  They were very often pictures of the sky. Or perhaps I was taking an imaginary shot of one of them against the backdrop.

I took this shot as we were pulling out of our neighborhood the other day. Ethan asked why I had stopped - I couldn't speak, but it didn't take long for him to figure out what I was doing.  I marvel at a scene like this.  It stops me in my tracks, almost as if it presses down all around and I can't help but notice.

I hope, in this busy life, my children are learning to take in the beauty of creation.  Especially when I consider all that threatens to distract them.

On a day like the one above, at least when I'm around..... they do!!

T, great picture. A friend said that other day the Cleveland ranks number 2 behind Seattle for the most non-sunny city. No one works for Ford, the steel mills, or goes down to the Flats anymore....why are we still here (other than we are afraid of change)?
