Nascar Training
I'm convinced.
People run with their hair on fire here.
This is a crazy fast paced lifestyle.
Our niece was visiting last week and she reminded me in her ever so Midwest Way that the drivers on the road out here are in SUCH A HURRY.
To help you understand, the minimum speed limit on the freeways is 70 MPH, which means if you're running late, it's likely you're driving faster than that (it should be stated, however, that being late is not the prerequisite for excessive speed).
Oh, but not my sweet niece... she decided to take the drive at her pace, the Midwest Pace and get there 15-20 minutes later than everyone else.
I like the way she thinks!

Family Matters
We are studying what God's word says about healthy family relationships as a six week series in our church. Week one covered the man's role in marriage to love, serve and honor his wife as Christ loves the church. Last weekend it was the wife's turn to hear about honoring, supporting and loving her husband. This is really good stuff.
Last night as we discussed the topic with our small group, one of the questions presented the idea that a marriage is a relationship of mutual respect and submission. We asked ourselves what that looks like. Our wise friend Dino said it this way:
"If you're wrong, admit it. If you're right, shut up."
Wow..... SO good!! And yet, at times so challenging!!
The Many Hats Women Wear
Grandpa treated us to a tea party during his visit last month,
and as you will see, the drama quickly unfolded.
Judging by the fun that was had with these lovely pieces,
it appears we've found a good outlet for all the energy this girl possesses.
I've assured her that Wearing Many Hats is a good thing to embrace.

Didn't Your Mother Ever Tell You.......
Our nephew Michael is on his way to boot camp.
No, he isn't being sent - he leaves by choice tomorrow for what
promises to be the beginning of some major change.
We are excited and grateful for this opportunity for Michael,
and although he will be missed, we know the experiences coming
his way have the potential to mean great things for him....
AND, as you can see, he needs all the help he can get!

Humor me.....
I came across the following picture I took on Valentine's day.
You might agree, by the looks of it, this amazing creation had high hopes
of satisfying the urge for a tasty treat.
And that the colors of this sweet promise are astounding.
And that the fingers that put it together were probably quite tasty enough.
But what struck me today, even as faintly noticeable as it is, was the message of one particular Conversation Heart. Particularly the pink heart on the left.
I can't say it's the dreamy state of love that puts me there, but I must admit
this frame of reference, on that particular featured heart, is a proper
description of my brain these days (for further explanation see my recent
post entitled "39.... and holding").
Perhaps the perfect thing to remedy my dull (NOT to mention pre-menopausal) mental capacity, would be a bite of this very decadence?
I doubt it.... sugar has it's own issues, but that's a thought for another day.

Respite
Grandma was here last week for a much needed break from winter.
